The things that matter most

The Five Entrustments

Each of us has important things entrusted to our care. How we steward them shapes our lives — and the lives of the people around us.

  • 01

    Faith

Our relationship with God and the foundation from which we live.

What is shaping my foundation right now?

  • 02

    Family

Marriage, children, grandchildren and the people closest to us.

Who at home is getting the leftovers of my attention?

  • 03

    Friends

Relationships that know us, encourage us and walk alongside us.

Who truly knows me — and when did we last talk honestly?

  • 04

    Work / Finance

    Calling, contribution, responsibilities and stewardship.

Am I stewarding this well, or simply keeping up?

  • 05

    Health

Caring for the capacity to live, love, serve and contribute.

What am I doing to protect my capacity for the long run?

“12 months from now, will these Five Entrustments be stronger because of the way I am living today?”

Stewardship, not scorekeeping

These five areas are not a ranking or a scorecard. They are a way to look honestly at the whole of a life instead of only the part that shouts loudest.

Most of us are not neglecting everything. We are quietly under-tending one or two things that matter deeply. Naming them is the beginning of caring for them.
